Steff and Jon had been inseparable since they first met through friends
whilst celebrating New Year’s Eve at high school.
Many years later, whilst on a road trip to Ireland
the couple stopped overnight in order to break the journey.
With the majestic Twelve Bens peaks behind him, Jon proposed on their balcony
– of course she said ‘Yes’!
They celebrated for the rest of the evening in true Irish style!
After visiting a couple of venues before finding West Tower, Steff’s sister suggested they visit the award-winning venue in Lancashire.
From the moment they drove onto the grounds, the couple were blown away by the location and beauty of West Tower, booking a date immediately!.
“Everything about the place is fantastic, from the beautiful gardens, to the amazing reception rooms & bedrooms. The most friendly and caring staff anyone could hope for are there to help with their special day” – Steff
The Style of the day
Steff found Pinterest invaluable for their special day
aswell as West Tower’s social media pages giving her lots of inspiration.
In the first place the style of their day evolved from the colours chosen for the bridesmaids dresses and suits for the groomsmen!.
From this unusual starting point, their invites were then designed by Jon’s sister incorporating flowers personal to them, determining the day’s floral theme too!
After much discussion, the couple decided to give their guests scratch-cards and chocolates as their wedding favour. The simple floral themed cake, was their favourite lemon flavour.
Steff took her mum and sister with her when it was finally time to pick her wedding dress – and she was so glad she did! Thinking she’d hate the Madam Burcu dress her mum suggested she tried on, she disappeared into the changing room.
As soon as she slipped it on, she felt like a princess and knew she’d found her dream gown!
Four older bridesmaids wore clover pink, knee length dresses with a matching shawl and rose gold heels.
Jon chose tailored navy morning suits with a grey waist coat for him and his groomsmen.
His gold and blue polka dot tie contrasted with their blue and white one and matched the girls effortlessly.
The couple got married at St. Oswalds Church in Ashton-In-Makerfield.
Her dad walked Steff down the aisle to the traditional Bridal Chorus by Wagner.
A warm sunny day ensured Champagne, Peroni and canapes were served on the lawn with a violinist playing in the background.
Later, speeches were started before their meal by Steff’s dad talking about jigsaws and things fitting together perfectly!
Whilst Jon’s introduction of “1,2,3 testing testing” which had everyone laughing from the outset!
A delicious meal followed of English Pea and Hock Soup followed by Roast Black Angus Beef with Apple and Blackberry Crumble for dessert.
They knew how amazing the food would be since they’d tasted the dishes (along with the wine!) a few months earlier.
It was at the Open Evenings at West Tower that they met and booked their awesome DJ!
‘Smash into you’ by Beyoncé was their first dance because it was the song that was playing when Jon shouted Steff through to their balcony to propose!
Although Steff was a dance teacher, the couple just ‘went with the flow’ rather than a choreographed routine.
The evening light bites went down a treat when they were served later in the evening before the party continued well into the early hours!
“A truly amazing, magical day surrounded by friends and family that we love that we will cherish for the rest of our lives.” – Steff
