Mike and Rachael had planned a winter escape with her parents. At the last moment, her father had to undergo an emergency operation meaning her parents were unable to join them. Convincing the couple to go ahead with their trip, her parents were unaware of Mike’s plans; he proposed to Rachael whilst visiting Prague on the rooftop of their favourite bar.
On their return, the couple visited West Tower on a cold crisp Sunday morning, instantly knowing it was perfect for them! They loved the decorations at West Tower too which meant they wouldn’t have to add much for their winter wedding theme.
“I loved that it was a private venue and the rooms were all so clean and well decorated. I didn’t feel like I had to do too much to enhance the venue, it was already so beautiful.” – Rachael
The Style of the day
Rachael knew she wanted a winter wedding so she quickly took to Pinterest and google for ideas! Her florist used lots of greenery, reds and white to create her look. Her table centrepieces were Christmas wreaths whilst her bouquet had lots of greenery with rose petals and pine cones decorating the aisle.
Following the theme she also provided Christmas crackers for her guests!
Rachael’s wedding dress was very classic and simple, the exact opposite of what she thought she’d choose! A cathedral veil, pearl earrings and a Tiffany bracelet which Mike had given her as a wedding gift completed her outfit. The men wore navy suits with burgundy ties with Mike’s waistcoat being tweed whilst the rest were white. All four bridesmaids could choose their own dress as long as it was burgundy!
They chose to have a civil ceremony at West Tower; loving the Ballroom and views of the Lancashire countryside. A String Quartet played Christmas songs as guests arrived with Rachael and her dad entering to ‘At Last’ by Etta James.
Afterwards, the musicians moved to the Cellar bar to entertain guests whilst drinks and canapes were served. The couple chose to offer their guests a choice menu for their wedding breakfast ensuring all special diets were catered-for.
Taking the advice of the West Tower team, the couple chose Steve Mitchell as their evening entertainment. He really took the time to get to know Rachael and Mike and as a result he gave out little stories about them throughout the evening!
Their first dance was ‘Harvest Moon’ by Neil Young – not very traditional but very special to the couple.
“The venue is beautiful and the views are truly stunning. We loved that you had the entire place to yourself, it felt like our own winter wonderland. The staff at West Tower are amazing, They were constantly on the ball and really helped out at every turn.” – Rachael
