Bride & Groom during their ceremony holding hands

Kelly and Stephen’s Floral inspired Wedding

Kelly met Stephen when she started her new job in 2011.

After their first date to ‘La Tasca’ in Manchester, many more followed over the next five years. In 2016 they enjoyed a romantic meal served outdoors on the final night of their holiday to Mexico. Returning to their room later, Kelly found champagne, chocolates and a cake which read ‘Happy Birthday’. Confused, she turned around to find Stephen on bended knee!

Laughing together about the hotel’s mistake on the cake, they immediately called their families back home to share their news! Finally, after viewing lots of venues, Kelly was recommended to visit West Tower by an old friend. As soon as they drove into the grounds, they were in no doubt that they’d found what they were looking for.

“We loved how the Ballroom could be transformed to whatever we wanted it to be for our day “- Kelly

THE STYLE OF THE DAY

Wanting an elegant and romantic style, inspiration for their day was their journey together. Fresh flowers and lots of candles enhanced the romance of the day, matching the simple décor of the Ballroom. Kelly made all their wedding stationary, including personalised hangers and bridesmaid boxes. Adult favours were for two charities close to their hearts – Cystic Fibrosis Trust and Cancer Research.

Their five tiered cake included their favourite flavours of Red Velvet, Champagne, Chocolate, Victoria Sponge and Lemon.

With no specific style of dress in mind, the only ‘must have’ for Kelly was something simple and elegant. After trying on lots of different styles, she finally felt like a bride after slipping on a Mori Lee gown! The beautifully embellished back and waist and long train fitted everything on her dress wishlist.

Stephen personalised a pair of silver Jimmy Choo heels with a special message which she found on their wedding morning! Her bridesmaids wore Mark Lesley dresses with matching gold sparkly shoes and Vivienne Westwood gold and blush studs, a gift from Kelly.

The Wedding

Wanting a whimsical entrance, the Ballroom was filled with candles, flowers and petals for their ceremony. A romantic floral arch was placed at the end the aisle and was the perfect finishing touch for their day. The ceremony included two readings, one of which was an extract from Winnie the Pooh, read by their daughter Amelia. A harpist was playing throughout the ceremony. Kelly and her dad entered to Pechalbel – Canon in D Major, whilst she walked back as Stephen’s ‘Mrs’ to Mendelssohn’s ‘Wedding March’.

Their choice menu allowed guests to pre-order their own menu from a selection chosen by Kelly and Stephen. The speeches which followed were emotional, funny and a very touching part of the day finishing with the Best Man; his finale was a big screen presentation of the Groom’s stag do tattoo!

The Jager train in the Cellar Bar was so much fun and just one of the many ‘little extras’ that West Tower could provide.

‘I’ll always be right there’ by Bryan Adams was their first dance. He’s one of their favourite artists, the lyrics in the song tell their story perfectly and will stay with them forever. After enjoying a delicious BBQ cooked by the kitchen team, a saxophonist and DJ entertained everyone until the early hours. Once the bar closed to non-residents, Stephen and his groomsmen then enjoyed Cigars and Port on the terrace before retiring to bed.

“Having our wedding here was the best choice we made by far, the staff listened to what we wanted on our day and delivered every little detail! I’ve never felt so relaxed and given that it was our wedding, it was just stress free completely Thank you so much for doing what you do!" – Kelly
