Venue Styling – Sumptuous Summer Wedding Ideas

We all love a summer wedding. At West Tower couples can marry outside and make the most of our beautiful gardens before enjoying their wedding breakfast in the Ballroom. When it comes to details and décor, the world is your oyster at this time of year. Let’s take a look at some inspirational summer wedding ideas, from fabulous favours to creative cakes.

Your Summer Ceremony

Let’s start with that special moment – your wedding ceremony under the wedding pagoda. Choose flowers to suit your colour scheme and adorn the entrance to the pagoda. It looks stunning!

You might also decide to hang an arrangement from the trellis inside the pagoda.

Table Décor

Welcome guests to their tables with beautifully designed table numbers. A floral stationery design brings the outside in and sits perfectly amongst a co-ordinating arrangement.

Flowers are in abundance in the summer months, so use seasonal blooms to adorn each table. The West Tower Ballroom is decorated in a neutral colour scheme meaning you can bring your choice of colour in to the room.

For an all-white scheme, we love these Mason jars filled with the most beautiful flowers. Tie with satin or grosgrain ribbon in your chosen colour.

Keep it informal with a vintage style vessel and blowsy flowers.

For a more traditional, formal wedding, the high ceilings of the Ballroom lend themselves to these grand table centres. Always make table centre arrangements low enough for people to chat over the top, or high enough for them to see each other underneath. Arrangements at eye level will stop conversation flowing easily.

Summer Entertainment

The lawn at West Tower lends itself perfectly to garden games. Croquet is a must for the traditional country wedding!

Giant Jenga is a popular garden game. As a fun alternative to the traditional guest book, ask guests to write messages on the blocks as they play.

Time for Cake

When it comes to your wedding cake, be bold with summer brights. We adore this cake, its elegant white icing is the perfect backdrop to the stunning sugar flowers.

For softer hues, these sugar flowers in pale pinks are breathtaking.

For something different, the naked cake is a perfect choice for a summer wedding. Adorn with fresh flowers and fruit, and lashings of cream!

This tower of macarons is oh-so-chic and summery, and the colours can be chosen to suit your scheme. Delicious!

All in the Detail

We all love ice cream on a warm summer’s day! Why not have a mobile ice cream cart on the lawn?

Double-up and choose a favour that also acts as a seating plan. We love these potted cacti, which can be displayed outside before guests walk in to the Ballroom.

Once again making the most of the outdoors, these favours are displayed under a tree and beautifully illuminated by fairy lights. Small jars of honey or jam make a great summer favour.

Always consider lighting at your wedding – no matter what the time of year. On a balmy summer’s evening, you’re likely to stay outside after dark. Hang flower-filled jam jars and fairy lights from the trees.

… and light pathways with candles in Mason jars or lanterns.

Back to nature and place names that won’t cost you a penny. These personalised pebbles can also be given as a favour.

And finally…keep your guests cool by placing fans on their ceremony chairs – they look pretty and they’re a great favour.
