Alex arranged for an overnight stay in Liverpool for Julie’s birthday, proposing to her soon after they arrived in their room. Later that evening he had arranged for family and friends to celebrate with them in the hotel; the next day, the couple went shopping for her ring to choose it together.
First, the couple put together a shortlist of venues, with West Tower coming very highly recommended by friends. For the most part, they both wanted their day to be intimate, elegant and romantic. Both Alex & Julie wanted their very special day to be remembered forever by them and their guests. After their initial visit, the couple were happy that all their ‘wish list’ boxes could be ticked by West Tower.
“The venue is stunning and intimate and all our family and friends couldn’t stress enough how beautiful it was.” – Julie
The Style of the day
In a word Nostalgia summarised their day. Julie used her parents, grandparents & great-grandparents’ weddings as inspiration, with photos of their wedding day used in her table plan. The guest book included a photo of each guest with space for them to write their own personal message. The tiered cake included a gluten free layer; with a bouquet of cake pops and a cupcake – everyone could eat cake!
Thinking she’d choose a fitted wedding dress, Julie fell in love with a Princess dress by Mori Lee. Adding cap sleeves ensured her dress was exactly what she had always dreamt of. A fur shawl and diamante head-dress along with a cathedral veil completed her outfit. Her favourite accessory were her shoes with a painted design – showing everyone how Alex truly was her Prince Charming. Her 3 older bridesmaids wore long blush pink maxi dresses with the 2 flower girls wearing ivory princess dresses. The men wore royal blue suits and tan shoes; Alex’s platinum tie and waist-coat contrasted with the groomsmen’s pink accessories.
Their civil ceremony at West Tower was very personal and included two readings, with Julie’s brother walking her down the aisle. The choice menu ensured their guests could choose their favourite dishes, with Eggs Benedict, Roast Beef & West Tower Chocolate Brownie the most popular. The speeches following the meal were entertaining. With Alex’s family from Manchester and Julie’s from Liverpool, there was lots of football banter!
The Liverpool band, Harlequin provided the evening entertainment. Choosing an upbeat song ‘Walking on Sunshine’ to enter into the room, the couple chose ‘Over and Over Again’ by Nathan Sykes as their first dance. Playing all types of music the live band had everyone on the dance floor all night
“Both Alex and I can’t thank the staff at The West Tower enough. Our day was perfect and they couldn’t do enough to help. Nothing was too much and it made the day run smoothly.” – Julie
